Argghhh, listening to the way we used to do Valentine's makes me anxious. Just think of the poor little kid who didn't get any. What were we thinking??

The thing I remember most about Valentine’s Day is that horrible moment in grade school when it was time to open your shoebox and see how many valentines you got. Sheer torture if you weren’t a popular kid. Would you have any? It was always public, too. Everyone ooing and ahhing over theirs and you trying to hide the fact that you only got one or two. Wow, pretty pathetic memory, huh?! I’m glad they don’t do that anymore!

I have 5 daughters...starting your period is a family kind of celebration...I'll spare most of the details except I still have the photo of all the sisters and Mom presenting Patia with a dozen Red tulips recycled from the vase downstairs as she sat upon The Throne and threshold of womanhood!
