I don't think we do ourselves justice when we think that we aren't qualified to do something different than we have been doing. Most of us are of an age when women were just beginning to be accepted in non-traditional careers. I grew up in a society that believed that women could be mothers, teachers and secretaries but not much else. Should we accept artificial limits on our ambitions now based on our age or lack of experience? We all have skills developed over a lifetime and if we need to learn new skills to succeed in our chosen career, we can do that too!

I am in the same boat. My kids are still at home though, but I am desperate to find fulfilling work.

That is what I hear over and over from career coaches. The place to start for finding fulfilling work is getting a very good feel for your values, interests, and unique job strengths.

I'd be glad to point you in some directions, if I could know a little more about your situation.
