New Research on Depression/Alzheimer's Link 2008/05/15 17:59 Karma: 7
A new study by researchers at Rush University has found that depression can be a factor in the development of Alzheimer's rather than an early symptom of the disease.

Observational studies found higher levels of depressive symptoms in old age to be associated with increased incidence of Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment. But it wasn't known whether depression contributed to its development, or was a consequence.

one of the redundant traits through this beta has been the lack of "main tank" viability of Death Knights. It's an issue that it seems Blizzard has tried to remedy, but as of yet, has been unsuccessful in closing the gap, though it has been narrowed a little.
There are many issues at this point that all just compound around each other.
1) The first issue at the forefront is our lack of block. The

lack of this is a compounded issue that rears its heads on multiple fronts. For single target tanking, it comes out to a significant lack of mitigation. I'm finally starting to round about our current Warrior in terms of armor, but it's close enough where he still mitigates more after Defensive stance - and that's before you factor in block. For AoE tanking, due to the general way AoE tanking works (alot of mobs hitting for low amounts), Block essentially becomes avoidance, or close to it, making blocking classes WAY more preferred for AoE tanking as well.
2) Death Knights have the lowest magic mitigation of any tanking class. This is a huge drop from a class that was originally intended to be the best magic tank in the game. With the nerf to Anti-Magic Shell, we no longer have a consistant way to avoid/drastically reduce magic damage. If specced in Magic Suppression in Unholy (and with three specs you want to be good, that's a big if more on that later), DK's reduce Magic Damage by 10% on 1/3 of what are supposed to be their "viable tanking specs". Blood and Frost only reduce 5%.
Warriors reduce magic damage by 16% (Defensive Stance + Improved Defensive Stance)
Druids reduce magic damage by 12% (Protector of the Pack)
Paladins reduce magic damage by 12% (Improved Righteous Fury + Guarded by the Light)
Not only do DK's take more magic damage, they also spend the highest number of points for the smallest reduction (Paladins pay 5 points for 6% reduction to ALL damage, and another 6% magic damage reduction, Druids pay 3 points for a 12% reduction to ALL damage, Warriors pay 2 talent points for 6% magic damage reduction in addition to a base 10% reduction to ALL damage)
Death Knights have to spend 5 talent points for 5% magic damage reduction. Not only that, but the talents for these other classes that add Magic damage reduction, and more outside of these bonuses than the DK talents do, too xll.
